Who We Supervise?

The Guyana Securities Council is a Supervisory Authority for reporting entities carrying on the activities set out in Section 2 and the Fourth Schedule of the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act 2009.

The following activities are supervised by the Guyana Securities Council:

  • Trading for own account or for account of customers in money market instruments (such as cheques, bills, certificates of deposit), foreign exchange, financial futures and options, exchange and interest rate instruments, and transferable securities.
  • Underwriting share issues and participation in such issues
  • Advice to undertakings on capital structure, industrial strategy and related questions and advice and services relating to mergers and the purchase of undertakings.
  • Money broking
  • Portfolio Management and Advice
  • Safekeeping and Administration of securities
  • Venture risk capital
  • Unit Trusts

All market participants are reporting entities by application of this Act.

  • Hand-in-Hand Trust Corporation Inc.
